Chez la Vierzou

Welcome chez la Vierzou

In the 21st century, you can still come and relax in unique Auvergne – a volcanic region, off the beaten path, located in south-central France – in a small village of 30 inhabitants, at an elevation of 900 meters.
Built in the 19th century, this house has been renovated with natural materials (lime, sheep wool, wood… ), and it is far away from pollution and stresses of the city. We don’t even have a television!

Meals

Breakfast

Breakfast, included in the price of the room, is served at any time between 8:30 a.m. and 10:00 p.m. We make our own organic bread with several grains, and our « pain d’epices » (sweet bread with honey and spices). We can also suggest, according to the season, home made orange juice and yoghurt. Our preserves are made by our own little hands, and some of them with products from our garden.

Dinner

Here you can say that we are a little be in the Spanish Auvergne: She is Castillian and he comes from a long line of « Auvergnats ». The two ways of cooking mix well together: beans, pork, cheese, « tortilla », fish…
Whenever possible, we use quality local products in the kitchen.

Our intention is to suggest a simple and complete menu, starting with an apetizer and finishing with a home made digestive drink, for 12 euros for adults and 8 euros for children up to 160 cm. of height.

To see

The principal curiosities in Charraix, apart from ourselves, are the sphered crosses (Croix a boules), a mix of the christian cross and celtic symbols. The frescos in the small church (XII century) are considered among the most antique in the Auvergne region. In this granite laden area, prehistoric men have left traces of their habitat.
